The Theatre District 
All hotels have restrooms, but they are not always on the main level. Very 
convenient, on 44th St between 5th and 6th Av, the Royalton Hotel, and the 
Algonquin, as well as the Paramount, 235 W 46th St. 
HEADING DOWNTOWN 
South of42nd Street.... 
Lord & Taylor's 5th Av between 38th & 39h St. Women's on the fifth floor, 
men's on the l0th. 
NY Public Library Mid-Manhattan Branch, 5th Av at 4Oth, and the new Science, 
Industry & Business Library branch in the old B. Altman dept store building, 
also on 5th Av; at 35th St. They have restrooms for the public on various
floors. 
Dumont Plaza Hotel, 34th St between Lexington and 3rd Avs, on main level. 
Gramercy Park Hotel, Lexington Av between 21st and 22nd Sts. To the left as 
you nter the lobby. 
Barnes & Noble at Union Sq. Bathrooms as well as a nice coffee area. 
Bradley's, Union Sq at the meeting of Broadway and 12th St,on the ground 
floor. Nothing to write home about. 
Strand Bookstore, 828 Broadway at 12th St. On main floor,very basic, not 
always 100% spotless, but nevertheless available in an area with very few
options. 
So Ho Grand Hotel, 310 W Broadway, near Grand St. Hard to find, but on second 
floor, sort of behind the check-in desk. 
K Mart 1 Penn Plaza and also at 770 Broadway at 8th St. Both have small
public 
signs pointing you in the right direction,or ask. 
Bar 89, 89 Mercer St, between Spring & Broome Sts. Restrooms on main and
lower 
floors. 
WALL STREET & WAY DOWNTOWN 
City Hall Park has a free-standing, outdoor toilet. You'll need a quarter. 
According to Time Out NY, it's been there over three years and is up to 
65,000+ flushes. 
Fraunces Tavern Museum, above the restaurant at 54 Pearl St corner of Broad 
St. Museum and restaurant both have clean facilities. 
Strand Bookstore Downtown, 95 Fulton St between William & Gold Sts, on main 
(and only) floor. 
Walden Books, 57 Broadway at Exchange P1. Not generally open to public, but 
staff responds politely to polite requests. 
McDonald's, 160 Broadway between Maiden Lane & Liberty St. Regular and 
wheelchair accessible restrooms.
