That's a tougher question. Your wife possibly won't get a job with her
qualification. But as a native speaker of English she can get easily
a well paid language teacher job, and after learning some Hungarian
could esily find a company who needs such a secretary. ( I know a
hungarian girl who speaks *some* English, works for a foreign
company in Hungary (her boss does not speak Hungarian) as a secretary
and earns around 100 000 Ft netto.

If you really want to try it, your best chance would be to find a
Canadian company who wants to make business in Hungary and
you will be the "East-Europian Sales Manager" or something like
that. You will earn money and still have your way back to Canada.

For your money you may pay the best elite education available in
Hungary.

I want to hire someone in Budapest on part time basis to do some running
around for me in archives and libraries etc. I have no idea of what is a
fair rate of compensation. I am hoping that this will be a long-range
association, and do not want to ruin it all before it starts.

Could some people toss out some pay scales for comparable work by the hour
or week or months, or what have you. All help appreciated.
