The REC currently is inviting applications for the following
position:
LOCAL OFFICE AND OUTREACH OFFICER
This position is within the Local Office and Outreach Department of the
REC. The department is responsible for overseeing, assisting and
co-ordinating the activities, development and projects of the RECs 15 local
offices. The position is challenging in that it requires flexibility, a
variety of skills, strong commitment and is in a multi-cultural environment.
The applicant will be responsible for the following activities:
Assisting, advising and monitoring REC Local Offices in implementing
their tasks (grants programs,
information dissemination, office management, project management and
development);
Coordinate activities of REC Headquarters with the Local Offices;
Carrying out project and financial management for the department;
Preparing of proposals for funding of REC Activities and reporting to
donors;
Travel to REC Local Offices and to work with REC constituents.
For this position the following qualifications are required:
Good administrative and personnel management skills;
Experience in project management;
Experience in financial administration and systems;
Good English communication skills;
Awareness of environmental issues in Central and Eastern Europe;
Ability to work independently;
Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to work in a
multi-cultural environment;
Computer Skills.
Knowledge of a CEE language would be an advantage.
The position is based in the REC headquarters in Szentendre, but requires
frequent travel to CEE countries. The REC will provide training for getting
acquainted with the job.
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is a
non-partisan, non-advocacy, not-for-profit organisation with a mission to
assist in solving environmental problems in Central and Eastern Europe
(CEE). The Center fulfils this mission by encouraging cooperation among
nongovernmental organisations, governments, businesses and other
environmental stakeholders, by supporting the free exchange of information
and by promoting public participation in environmental decisionmaking.
The REC was established in 1990 by the United States, the European
Commission and Hungary. Today, the REC is legally based on a Charter signed
by the governments of twenty-six countries and the European Commission, and
on an International agreement with the Government of Hungary. The REC has
its Headquarters in Szentendre, Hungary, and Local Offices in each of its
15 beneficiary CEE countries which are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, FYR
Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Yugoslavia.
