Hey, has anybody hear anything lately about the Serbian mafia operating in
Hungary, or has the loosening of sanctions reduced this kind of activity?

As a resident of Szeged, I'd become accustomed to the leaving the theatre
during performances because of bomb threats, to reading about murders in the
paper, and seeing all sorts of shady characters hanging out in the hot
spots. (Not to mention the hordes of Serbs coming to buy Pick salami and
toilet paper).

I've had to quit my mafia watch cold-turkey, but I imagine it's slowed down
a bit. Is this true? And whatever happened to the guy who killed the baker
and his family execution-style in Szeged?

NPR reports that NY Times reports that the US will no longer
enforce the arms embargo against BH.

If you would consider selling your products/services
(from home appliances to software and networks)
to Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary), then you should join
N.A.A.F.E.T.E.E. - North American Association For Export To Eastern Europe.
N.A.A.F.E.T.E.E. is non-profit organization (no commission, no agents,
no charges - only membership fee) supporting exports to Czech Republic,
Poland and Hungary. They are spreading business leads (at no charge) and
other useful info from Eastern Europe. Association mission is to help
Canadian, American firms and firms from any other country in expanding to
new markets, help in training and educating about the area and generally
promote trade with Eastern Europe.

If you are interested - let me know, directly by e-mail, I will e-mail you
more info. If you know about somebody, who could be interested - please
do not hesitate to forward this info.

Tunde McNabb asks about getting Hungarian documents translated into English
so as to be accepted by the U.S. government--

I know of a Hungarian teacher in the US who may be interested - if not, she has
a son in a US university who knowns English well.

I think there is no reason that the west (US) cannot make the cost of
holding Bosnia too great for the Serb by random, on-off, bombing raids
by air. No troops, just lots of planes. This the same theory the Serbs
are using to discourage the west from acting - by attacking UN troops,
breaking agreements, and threats against peacekeeping efforts. they know
the west will not take risks with large numbers of troops, but if the
cost to the Serbs was too high, they would stop their aggression. The
west should use the balance of relative costs against the Serbs.

I hope this event has taught the Carter-ite pasifists (spelling?) that
good cheer, politeness, and well wishing sometimes don't work with
foreign policy.

Well, 2 can play the battle of the references. In the New Webster Dictionary,
 1993,
on page 524 they write:
Jew. a member of the worldwide Semitic group who claim descent from
Abraham and whose religion is Judaism. (history follows here).

What's that you say Imre? That's right! No mention of it as a derogotory term.

Well, Imre, you'd do better to wait till an opprobrium has been committed.

What are DP camps? Some mention was made to them being in the US. Are you
refering to the POW camps for Japanese?
